New Applicant
If you have never been a customer with Mt. Carmel Public Utility Co., we will ask you to come to the office at 316 N. Market Street to complete an application for service. All adult applicants will be asked to provide two forms of identification when submitting the application for service.
Deposits
Applicants for non-residential service are required to make a deposit to establish service. The deposit amount will be 1/3 or your estimated annual usage (or 1/6 of your estimated annual usage if you qualify as a small business under the definition found in IL Admin Code Part 280.40).
- A utility may request a minimum amount equal to 1/3 of a requested deposit to be paid within 12 days after the issue date of a notice requesting such deposit.
- A utility may require the full payment of the remaining balance of the deposit to be paid by the applicant no sooner than 2 billing periods typically or routinely used by the utility.
- Deposits earn interest while they are held by the utility company. The interest rate is established annually by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Interest will be credited to your account at the deposit anniversary date.
- Deposits are refunded in full when the account has a satisfactory payment history during any 12-month period.
Privacy
The privacy of your account information is important to us. Information will be given only to persons within your organization that you have authorized.
